Tim sped about the corner breezing by yet another competitor in the Tour De France bike race. He felt exhausted but the crowd yelling around him gave him the rush of adrenaline that he needed to keep pushing. Every time he raced his family would tell him how they yelled for him and shouted his name really loud as he passed them. Tim could never remember hearing them or seeing them. When he was racing the crowd became a noise in the background that invigorated him but wasn't discernible at all. All he could think about as he pumped the pedals on his bike was how much he wanted to win. After Tour De France, he had promised his wife, he would cut down on biking and spend more time at home with his family and kids. He had promised this to her, and so he had to win this race for himself. He remembered when he was a novice biker, he had come so far. Just as he was thinking about his youngest daughter, a little girl with little blonde ringlets ran onto the track. She wasn't facing him but if he didn't do something he would hit her. Tim swerved to the left to avoid the girl, and as he did so he felt himself lose control of his bike, as it hurtled towards the crowd.
